If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a talented Network Engineer on a voluntary (unpaid) basis to join our dynamic team and contribute to the creation of an innovative mobile application to support a NASA project.
You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers, software developers, and product managers to turn the idea into feature-rich and secured software.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a complex and ultra-secured network infrastructure
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, including analyzing data traffic patterns and optimizing network configurations
- Configure and manage RHEL servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices
- Upgrade and patch network devices to ensure security compliance and optimal performance
- Provide technical support and resolve network-related issues for internal and external stakeholders
- Interpret project requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Write clean and maintainable code, following industry best practices and coding standards, including the “The Power of 10” NASA coding rules
- Implement top-notch military-level security protocols and technologies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of user data and sessions
- Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve any bugs or issues
- Provide support during the review process

Evaluate and integrate new tools and frameworks to improve productivity and efficiency
Must Have
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, equipment, and technologies such as TCP/IP, Wireless WAN, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, etc
- Hands-on experience with networking devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to start immediately
- Ability to pass a thorough background check
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (must be able to verify)
Nice to have
- Experience in Jira, Confluence, and Lucid Chart is a plus
- A college degree in a relevant field is a plus
