If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a talented Computer Scientist on a voluntary (unpaid) basis to join our dynamic team and contribute to the creation of innovative cognitive software to support a NASA project.
You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers, software developers, and product managers to turn the idea into feature-rich and secured software.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a complex and ultra-secured network infrastructure
- Conduct research on emerging technologies and contribute to the development of innovative solutions
- Analyze system requirements and design efficient algorithms to meet those requirements
- Develop computer models and simulations to test and validate software components
- Develop robust backend data handling systems and pipelines for efficient processing of large volumes of data.
- Integrate various software systems and components to enable seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Optimize system performance and ensure data security
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues to ensure smooth operation
- Work with network engineers to set up and optimize RHEL, Ubuntu, and other Linux servers
- Provide technical support and resolve network-related issues for internal and external stakeholders
- Interpret project requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Write clean and maintainable code, following industry best practices and coding standards, including the “The Power of 10” NASA coding rules
- Implement top-notch military-level security protocols and technologies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of user data and sessions
- Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve any bugs or issues
- Provide support during the review process
Must Have
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Java, and Python
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Familiarity with software engineering methodologies and practices
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL (PostgreSQL and Redis)
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to start immediately
- Ability to pass a thorough background check
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (must be able to verify)
Nice to have
- A college degree in a relevant field is a plus
